Porting CGI Projects Between Unix Platforms

You can use Sapphire/Web to port CGI applications to the various Unix platforms supported. Although HTML makes the client browser cross-platform, you may wish to deliver the CGI to run on different platforms. You can port a project between the various platforms by running Sapphire/Web on all the platforms, loading each in turn with the same project. You may need to change project options depending on the configuration. Then save, rebuild, and test. Save that platform's project in another location.

For example, you build a project on an HP-UX server but want to run it on a SunOS/ Solaris server, you must rebuild your HP-UX project on that server. You do not need to install Sapphire on the Sun server, but you will need a makefile and the appropriate libraries to re-compile your project on the Sun server. Once you have re-compiled the project, you can deploy it as usual.
